The estate is located on the edge of a small humble village without any curiosities, just set in the middle of lush greenery, hence its name meaning "green" (Verdala in Occitan) at the foot of the Montagne Noire.
If the property has shrunk considerably over the centuries, it has certainly not lost its authentic charm. The Château de Verdalle finds its source in the late 11th century. However, its history is only fully known since its partial reconstruction in 1606-1608 by Dame Guilhamettes, wife of Jacques Lord of Loubens and Verdalle.
The slender silhouette of the building with its thick walls built in river stones offers in its heart a majestic staircase in freestone as well as a quaint private chapel with unique stained-glass windows created by the hand of the glass painter and sculptor Jean-Claude Izard in 1966. Since we purchased the property in June 2013, we have been restoring this heritage building step by step in order to respect its original architecture and paying particular attention to the decoration of each room.
What makes this place stand out from any other is this extra soul that makes it deeply unique; a residence with multiple charms and surprises, which invites you to rest, to recharge your batteries or quite simply... to enjoy life.
